Axicube-Integrated Angle Finder (Axicube-I) is a new product from TSPROF, designed to improve the accuracy and stability of the sharpening angle adjustment on the TSPROF K03 sharpening system. The device is integrated into the abrasive holder rod, which significantly increases the convenience of using the holder. With Axicube-I there is no need to use a standard mechanical angle finder. The measurement of the angle is immediate, which makes it possible to determine the value of the angle at any moment of work and easily correct it in case of change of abrasives, irregular thickness behind the edge or complex knife geometry. It becomes possible to create nearly perfect symmetrical secondary bevels. The angle finder allows you to perform precise step sharpening or create the finest micro-secondary bevel.
The Axicube-Integrated angle finder measures the angle between the knife axis and the secondary bevel surface during the sharpening process. The data is measured in three axes, so that it is possible to determine angles at any spot of the knife's secondary bevel. The angle finder is sensitive to all deviations, including those that occur during manual sharpening on the device. However, the high rigidity of the TSPROF K03 sharpener makes it possible to use the angle finder as effectively as possible. The abrasive holder of TSPROF sharpener is mounted on a rigid steel guide rod, which eliminates deflection during sharpening and guarantees correct angular readings during all sharpening operations from deburring to final polishing. An accelerometer inside the Axicube-I is responsible for the accuracy of measurements. It is a device that measures the projection of apparent acceleration, i.e. the difference between the true and gravitational acceleration of an object. The digital angle finder Axicube-I uses indirect measurement of the projection of gravitational acceleration. For this purpose the sensor measures displacement of inertial mass relative to the body and converts the obtained value into electric signal (capacitive method). This method is currently one of the most reliable and is used in systems with the highest accuracy requirements. The capacitive accelerometer consists of several plates, some of which are stationary, while others move freely inside the body. A capacitor is formed between the plates, the capacitive value of which depends on the distance between the plates. Under the influence of the acceleration force, the capacitance of the capacitor changes. Integral sensors, which are responsible for the operation of the device, are manufactured on a silicon crystal using iMEMS (integrated Micro Electro Mechanical System) technology. The structure of the sensor is a silicon substrate on which the sensor chip and the signal amplification circuit are located.
The Axicube-I digital inclinometer has several operating modes: basic mode, setup mode and special setup mode. The sharpening angle indicator and the on/off button are located on the front panel. Just below, protected from abrasive slurry and sludge, is a Micro-USB connector for charging. The indicator in basic operation mode shows the value of the angle in degrees and their tenths. Axicube-I is powered by a built-in 180 mAh battery.
Axicube-I has a rigid connection with the abrasive holder during operation and is located in the plane of the abrasive stone, which allows you to set the angle with an accuracy of 0.1°. Angle finder has an anodized aluminum body, resistant to vibrations, falls and temperature fluctuations (can be operated at temperatures from +5 to +40°С). Thanks to the bright display, angle values are clearly readable in any lighting conditions.
Each Axicube-I is calibrated at the factory with verified measuring instruments. Before using the angle finder on each new surface, it is necessary to set the initial reference angle. A special calibration plate is used for this purpose. If the sharpening device is moved to another surface, a new calibration with the plate will be necessary. If the sharpening device does not change its location, the initial angle of reference is memorized by the angle finder and the calibration plate need not to be used when the angle finder is switched on again.
Note. Axicube-I is designed for TSPROF K03 only. The product is not compatible with the Kadet and Blitz Series. Axicube-I will not work with sharpeners from other manufacturers.
