I own the full set. Good fast cutters. I like them but maybe
skip the ultra fine for something else if your chasing a
mirror finish, IMHO. -keith

This stone goes really well with my TSPROF, it cuts really fast and makes short work of re-profiling. (60 grit)

Excellent item. Have complete set now
Paul .
This is the finish with the Hapstone 8000 grit and you will not get this type of finish with the Poltava 15000 grit. If the 15000 grit is this rough, I hate to see the rest of the grits. I'll bet they're good for eating a lot of material with the knife. No Thanks!
Paul .
The photos will identify each stone. The Poltava 15000 grit is very rough on the edges, with a more porous, gritty surface, whereas the Hapstone 8000 grit is very smooth in all aspects and provides a very polished mirror finish. The Poltava 15000 grit will NOT provide a mirror finish. In fact the edges of the stone are so rough, I do not even want to use the stone as I am sure it will not provide even sharpening with damaging due to the rough uneven edges. I tried to return this stone, but have had little success to to the at this point poor customer service, after I have spent thousands of dollars here at Gritomatic. I can only speak of the Poltava 15000 grit negatively as I do not have the rest of the set, but after this one I don't need to see the others. I have an Edge Pro Diamond set, Hapstone Premium CBN set 80g - 1000g, Boride T2, Boride CS-HD and NOT one of those stones came dirty or stained when received. Poltava IMHO is waaay overpriced for very low quality.
Paul .
I bought this Poltava 15,000 grit thinking it would further enhance a mirror finish over my Hapstone 8000 grit. NOT! The Hapstone 8000 grit leaves a very fine mirrored finish and is a very smooth stone to the touch, but the Poltava 15000 has an abrasive touch leaves scratches over the Hapstone 8000. I really knew better than to try it over an already mirror finish, but I did and ruined hours of work. Not to mention the Poltava is very dirty and had like oil stains on it after first opening, so I sprayed it with some water and wiped it with a Mr Clean magic eraser and black stuff is still coming off. A high price for a stone that dies not seem to offer quality out of the box. This will more than likely be returned as it is the worst stone I have bought. I have Edge Pro Diamond, Hapstone Premium CBN, Boride T2 and Boride CS-HD and none of them came like this one from Poltava. There ya have my 2 cents, buy Hapstone you'll be very happy and they are my favorite out of the other three I listed.

Received incorrect stone which seems like a 10,000 was in 8,000 packaging, obviously a mistake but going on 11th day since I’ve contacted Gritomatic regarding this error with no reply or resolution. I’ve made multiple attempts via different methods of communication.

Seems to work so far.

Quality stone. I need more.

Gritomatic overcharges for everything they sell, and some products are unreasonably overpriced in comparison to even European prices for their products and accessories of the same system such as tsprof

I enjoy most of my PDT CBN's and I own 7

Hi everybody!
I have some thoughts about these CBN stones that I believe you'll find to be helpful.
First let me say thank you to gritomatic for making so many nice sharpening supplies available, including these stones.
So here's my perspective.
They fit a particular niche that I was looking for in that I needed non-magnetic stones to pair with my magnetized sharpening table, and secondly, I wanted stones that weren't messy (like water stones).
So they fit the bill in those major elements that I was looking for.
After sharpening several knives with them on a spectrum of steels, I have some observations about their performance.
They get the job done, but they don't cut as aggressively as diamond stones do in my limited experience. (I have the 120, 400, and 1000 grit). So if you're going to do some reprofiling, (even with the 120 grit), you're going to be there a while. And the grit rating seems to be finer than how they're marked, (mine anyway) seem to cut and feel like something less aggressive than their designation states. The grit (especially coarser) doesn't seem to be evenly dense across the surface, there appears to be concentrated and (relatively) sparse areas of grit. I'm not talking about shiny or dark coloration, but the actual density of the grit.
Whether this matters or not, I don't know, all I can say for sure is, they get the job done but they aren't the aggressive cutters that I was expecting them to be based on other reviews that I read.
But on the bright side, you can sharpen your blades without the mess of water stones, and they're gentle enough that you're not likely to remove too much metal by accident.
They are quite expensive, but I don’t know what it cost to manufacture them, so I'm not qualified to say assess how much markup is involved in the price.
That's my honest assessment of the stones.
Thank you again gritomatic for providing your services to us, and thank you readers for reading my review.
All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever!

I love this stone and I'm probably going to end up with a set of them. I got the 120 grit since the 60 was out of stock. I wanted something for fast material removal, and I wasn't disappointed. Seems more aggressive than my 80 grit EdgePro diamond matrix stone; this thing blasts through steel and throws big fluffy filings. Heavy compared to resin bonded. I'm impressed with the 3mm thick abrasive layer; should last a lifetime. So far I've tried it on CPM Cruwear, M390 and S90V; smooth fast material removal on all of those. Being able to use it dry is a big plus, also. Very pleased overall; highly recommended.

I purchased the 8000 and the 15,000 - I have found they are a bit scratchy. What I refer to as scratchy is, after using the Matrix stones from Edge Pro starting with the 80 to the 4000, the finished edge has a polish to it. Then applying the 8000 the scratches appear on the blade edge. I then applied the 15,000 which had smaller scratches. I believe that the grit grades on these stones are ramped up to a point of not being true and correct. I was hoping to achieve the polish that the tapes give with these stones. Sadly they are not doing so.

These stones are excellent. If you don't have them then you need to get them

They are perfect. Just what I was looking for. Pricey but worth it!

Excellent stones. Plan on getting the whole set. They cut really nice. Pricey, but worth it

Good, fast removal. I'm using it as my coarse stone for reprofiling. Have done S90V and M390 so far and it has been a great stone. Following with Edge Pro diamond matrix stones but wanted a more durable stone for heavier reprofiling jobs

Very much worth the few extra dollars to get it through Gritomatic than the PDT supplier. This is my 3rd CBN matalic bonded from them (have the expert set from PDT/USA Market and had to open them ALL!) From Gritomatic they all come pre lapped and very flat. Most of us using CBN are serious about obtaining the best edge possible and would have to do it anyway. Fast shipping as always. High marks again to the best in the business!!!

These perform better in my opinion and experience than electroplated diamond stones, or diamond resin bars. I have been using these for about six months now and they are my favorite. No more tearing out plated diamonds or dealing with loading on the diamond resin bars. The cutting is very smooth and they seem like they will last a very long time. I’ve been sharpening on high Rockwell powdered steels and see no wear on my pdtools metallic cubic boron nitride stones. Made in Ukraine and is very high quality. Recommend grits 120 and 400 to get a very good toothy edge. Get the 1000 if you want and you will have some very sharp knives. It’s so much faster to not have to polish the bevel and it will have better bite too. But you can get a mirror polish if your progression goes up to a few microns or smaller. These are special and I highly recommend.

These stones cut INSANELY quickly. The 60 grit might as well be a chainsaw and they STAY FLAT.
10/10 reccomended

Great investment.
