Description

Venev Scorpion Series Bonded Diamonds are used for sharpening knives on KME and Blitz guided knife sharpeners. Diamond sharpening stones offer excellent performance in sharpening knives of any steel.

Scorpion Series consists of a 2mm-thick diamond-bearing layer on a 5mm-thick aluminum base. The diamond-bearing plate contains evenly distributed diamond grains with resin bonding. The manufacture of bonded diamonds is more complex than for coated diamonds. Bonded diamonds provide better feedback and give the sharpening stone a much longer lifespan.

The OCB version of Venev Diamonds utilizes a brand-new yellow binder with no abrasive particles in the composition. OCB is available in fine grits only and offers better scratch-free sharpening results.

All Venev diamonds use FEPA-F grit classification. Scorpion series is available in 7 grits from F80 to F1500. F80 to F240 utilize legacy binder. F400 to F1500 utilize OCB binder.

Antares set and all individual stones in the Scorpion series utilize 100% diamond concentration.

How to use

Venev Diamonds are recommended to be used with water as a lubricant for the best feedback. The diamond does not absorb water. Splash water on the stone's surface. Dry usage is an acceptable practice, although it results in faster wearing and speeds up stone loading.

These are simply the VERY BEST stones for the KME Sharpener. I enjoy KME's diamond stones, however, these cut in a much more precise manner and the feedback they provide is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Not taking anything away from KME's diamond stones...this is just a much more expensive | totally different type of stone. It is monocrystalline and they last forever. If you purchase they ARES set, and YOU DO NOT WANT A MIRROR FINISH, THEN DO NOT GO PAST THE 400 GRIT!

I've used and worn out the KME Gold series, I replaced them with an Atoma set, and now the Venev set (I'm a knife maker and do tons of sharpening). These are a pleasure to use, and produce a. superior finish to the KMEs or the Atomas. The only slight I've noticed is the stones vary in thickness just a bit, so check them with an angle cube when you change stones.

Simply fantastic stones. It's too bad the price went up since the conflict started between RU and UA, but they are amazing stones. They cut fast, have incredible velvety feedback, leave beautiful satin scratch patterns at every grit, and polish extremely well at higher grits. It takes dozens and dozens of knives to dish even a tiny bit, and that can be remedied easily with some water, a pencil, and a progression of sandpaper on a flat surface (glass or granite). You can also use SiC or AlOx powders. I do highly recommend conditioning/lapping the stones with sandpaper before first use. It's fast and easy and really makes them perform at 100%. You can do this every 10-20 knives as well to refresh them and expose new abrasive. They will literally last a lifetime.

These are so nice! Has a really fine scratch pattern which makes polishing to a mirror and much easier. Well worth grabbing a set!

Best stones I've ever used! These stones are fantastic! I can get an almost perfect mirror polish without even using lapping films. Unless you look close, you can't tell they aren't a perfect mirror finish. I've used the stock diamond stones that come with KME systems, as well as DMT and a few other after market stones, and these Venev stones cut faster and bring the edge to a very sharp and very shiny edge finish than any of the other brand of stones I've tried. I would highly recommend these stones for anyone using a KME system! My only complaint is one of the stones is slightly thicker and longer than the rest of them, but only slightly so, and easily worked with anyway by using my thickness compensater attachment.

Difference

What’s the difference between this and the Cerberus? Is it just that these are wider?
Also, if these are 8 mm thick, won’t that make your angles off when using them on the KME? The KME stones aren’t 8mm thick, so I’m unsure how these will provide you with the same angles that are displayed on the KME since those angles are based on using their KME stones. Thx for all the help!!

These are wider, have a backing plate and are one sided stones. The stone bond and abrasive is exactly the same.

As with every stone you use on a guided sharpening system, it's a good idea to get into the habit of always checking your angle and compensating if necessary when you swap any stone or strop.

Even diamond plates like the ones KME uses, often have slightly differening thickness so it's always a good idea to check and compensate between every stone. When you move onto strops after using stones, the same applies.

I recommend installing and using the Leading Edge multi function frame and a digital angle cube with your KME.
